Top Ten Reasons you should have lunch (or dinner) with Jane Cooper Stacy
- There is bound to be some reference to Charleston Missouri. If you have not had the opportunity to visit and learn about this community and their Dogwood-Azalea Festival it is a pretty interesting place.
- She has likely forgotten more than most people ever knew about Southeast Missouri State University. From stories about former University President Scully to what is happening today, she is a great story teller.
- It is impossible to miss the commitment she has for students; she has invested her time, talent, and treasure to help past and current Southeast students. It is a privilege to hear a story about how she has connected with a student and is helping them in their educational journey.
- There are few people who can speak with the level of authority and authenticity about issues as she can. If you want to know how she feels/thinks about something she will tell you and affords you the chance to disagree.
- If you like Missouri politics you can get a sneak peek about the work and life of the 46th Governor of Missouri the Honorable Warren Eastman Hearnes.
- As the past Alumni Director for Southeast she is a walking book of alumni information and keeps up to date with many of the alumni in the region.
- Similarly, as the past Alumni Director she provides great insight into how the campus was managed and how we connected with alumni prior to the advent of email, social media, etc. Her story about Rhodes Hall is a great example.
- It is a chance to share a story or two about her sister, Dr. Jennie Cooper, easily among one of my favorite and most demanding faculty members during my UG time at Southeast.
- You get a lunch with someone who is just an interesting person who is interested in you and not what you can do for them.
- You are pretty much guaranteed to end up FB with a photo (or many) where she brags about having lunch with you.
